The Florida 2-1-1 Network
The Florida 2-1-1 Network is a cooperative effort of the
Florida Alliance of Information and Referral Services and the United Way of
Florida to fulfill the mandate of SB 1276, adopted by the Florida State
Legislature in 2002, to make 2-1-1 available to every person in Florida. The
Network is a collaboration of the sixteen active 2-1-1 Network Centers that
currently serve all cell phone users in Florida and 88 percent of land line
users. All 67 counties have cell phone access and 50 counties have landline
access. During the 2008 Calendar Year, 1,077,344 calls were handled by the
sixteen 2-1-1 Network Centers.
2-1-1 Initiative
On July 21, 2000 the FCC designated
the 3-digit telephone number 2-1-1 for easy access to community human
service information. FLAIRS is working on a business plan to bring 211 to
Florida and integrate it with our FLAIRS Network. Visit the national
211 web site.
